Many people use blogs for different reasons. Some for information, some for opinions, and some to just express their own personal feelings. Whatever the reason is, blogging has become very popular. It is important to remember that most the time different blogs can have a certain opinion and may sway a certain way, and that is exactly what blogs are used for.
Blogs can be very useful when one is trying to gather information about a product or about news. Hearing personal opinions or stories of those who have first hand experience makes it much easier to either understand or easier to get information when one is buying a product. Many Americans rely on personal opinion and blogs are a perfect outlet for that.
The reading about Don and his story about his wife's illness stood out to me. In my Health Communication class I have learned how important personal stories can be during someones illness. Being able to write about what is going on can be very expressive and therapeutic to the patient and the family. In this context, blogging is very important.
Hey Bailey, great summary! I strongly agree with you when you say that translating your pains into words can be a great therapy. I know someone who wrote a lot in a personal notebook during his illness and told me afterward that it helped him escaping from his sickness.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Blogs can be a great outlet when you don't really know how else to express yourself. Sometimes it can be easier to type it all out rather than explaining it in person.
ReplyDeleteHey Bailey, I liked your insight on how important it is to be able to use blogging as tool to track and document an illness as in Dons case. I agree that this can't be uplifting and help during a tough emotional event.
