Network Laws

After reading through the three different laws, I found that I agree with the Sarnoff's Law the most. This law says that the value of a network increases linearly with the number of people on it. When you break that down it makes the most sense. The more people connected the a specific network the more valuable it becomes. If you have 100 people connected to a network and 10 connected to another, the first network will be 10 times more valuable. The more you have behind something the more important or noticed it may be. The logic behind Sarnoff's Law  was the most clear.

Another interesting thing to think about is where we will be in 5 years. How we will be getting our information? Since the internet is expanding, it can only keep getting bigger. Searching for information will be even easier. I think we will still have computers and phones to search for new information but maybe in a new, quicker way. Also information will be given to us much differently in the education systems. Less textbooks because technology will be even more plentiful in schools. Networks will be bigger as well. There will probably be new apps to use that we can get information from that can be easily shared too.

  1. Dear Bailey, I totally agree with you concerning the way we will be getting our information in 5 years. Improvement in technology will keep changing how we access info. I also agree with you when you say we will use less books that what we do today. I would even say that textbooks will disappear in the coming decades.

  2. I agree with you. To me it is hard to think about how technology or how we get our information will improve. I think its pretty great now, but it can only expand. I am excited to compare how we get our information now compared to how it will be in 5 years.

  3. It is crazy to me how much our education system has changed in the past five years. I can only imagine what it'll be like in 5 more years. Will our kids even have to read books to get an education? I agree that Sarnoff's Law is the most clear, especially when trying to decide how much value a network has; the more viewers, the more money they are making. I think that in a few years, everyone will have an online identity and information about a person will be much easier to collect. Then I think Reed's Law will be the most popular law. Our parents didn't have an online identity growing up but our kids start developing theirs at a much younger ager than we did. The younger people start to use the internet, the easier it'll be for networks to add them into a target demographic.

  4. Sarnoff's Law does make a lot of sense to me as well, being able to increase the value of a network by the number of people on it can make the world a smaller place. However, I chose to write about Reed's Law because of how many people use social media to access their information. I can only imagine how many people will be using social media to get their information in the next 5 years.
